I must say that creating my own myth is just as fun as studying myth. I truly enjoy mythology. It offers such imagination and intrigue. Much of the mythology I have read has been required by school, but these sttories and the ones I have read on my own have all been entertaining. It is a treat to learn of so many interpretations, beliefs, stories of the same thing (e.g. creation of the world or people). Yet, this vast number of creation myths is understandable considering the numerous religions and beliefs that fill our world.
I believe the best part of creating one's own myth is the artistic freedom one is able to work with. There are no restrictions such as form or meter that may hinder one's creativity. I say this because I feel writing in specific poetic forms is difficult. For some odd reason even free verse seems restrictive to me. Yet when creating myth one may speak openly and freely for it is one's own.
If creating myth has any influence on the study of myth it is a positive influence. Creating myth certainly enhances the study of myth. I do not believe mythology needs any enhancing as is but it sure is fun dreaming up a myth on one's own. If I am to take anything away from this assignment to aid in my teaching of mythology it would be that one story has many different versions and it is important not necessarily to know them but to be aware of their existance.

The Difficulties of Poetry
I can safely say it is much harder to write poetry than it is to write about poetry. I believe the difficulty in writing poetry lies in the acquiring of inspiration. All the marverlous poetry one has come across was written by an author inspired. Regardless of what this inspiration is or was the fact that it is there still remains. This is my problem. I feel uninspired. Perhaps it is because I live a repetative life-go to school, go to work, do homework, sleep, repeat. I have experienced nothing new for so long. Everything I feel or see is old and worn out. (I need to get out more). This creative writing assignment was somewhat challenging for me. Every idea that came to mind seemed as though it had been said or done before. It seems all the good work has been done already. We are all simply trying to emulate the genius that has preceeded us.
Still, I feel as though I learned a lot. I learned writing poetry in a certain style or form is trying. One cannot simply jot down words and hope them to flow-at least I can't. Specific measures must be followed in order to achieve the proper form of the poetry style or genre you are writing in. As far as what I learned that may aid in teaching, I guess it is that you must not limit yourself. Do not confine your creativity into one form or rhyme scheme. Although I do not feel I can use any poetic form to its fullest I do believe specific forms and rhyme schemes fit better than others in any one poetic expression. If I were to teach a poetry class tomorrow I would instruct my class to first find inspiration, next write, and finally choose the genre that best allows the flow or constriction of their thought.

Hello everyone! My name is Frankie Medina. I am a graduating senior in my fourth semester at CSUN. My major is English Literature. I am not exactly sure how I came to choose this major but I am quite happy I did. I have been exposed to a myriad of inetresting literatures I am certain I would not have come across had I not been a literature major. Perhaps I should tell you how I came to choose Bias as the title of my blog; it was something my mom once said to me. "You have an opinion about everything" she told me. I think she may be right. I don't know if it is because I like to talk or because I enquire how dedicated one is to their own biases, but I enjoy debate, or even simple conversation on interesting topics. I will be the first to admit I am almost always completely wrong or talking about something I have no idea about, but I will most ceratinly keep the words comin' in anticipation of what I will hear.
Now, for this thing called 'media technology'? What exactly are we talking about? Am I to suppose media technology deals with any kind of streaming video, television, dvd? If so then perhaps I believe it may be quite useful in teaching. I say this recalling how one learns as a small child. For example, if one was to teach a small child the word brush he or she would say "brush" while holding or pointing to a brush. Secondly, if one, at any age, was learning of a new bacteria and its affects, or a new species of animal, it is useful to see pictures or videos of theses things. Considering these two examples I feel it is very useful to have some sort of visual aid during the learning process.
Please let me know if I am wrong. I hope you all, or at least those of you who read it, enjoy my blog and its following entires. I will look forward to your posts and replies to my own.
